Dayton Children's offers a number of programs to meet the needs of parents, families, physicians and payers. We continually monitor the needs of the community to determine what services are needed to meet those needs.

To meet the needs of families, physicians and payers, Dayton Children's provides alternatives to inpatient care.

Almost Home is Dayton Children's connection between inpatient and outpatient care. The unit is specially designed for pediatric patients who need trained medical or surgical observation and monitoring. Almost Home patients usually stay less than 24 hours, but may stay longer depending on medical needs. The recently renovated unit now has 34 beds. In 2006, more than 8,193 children were treated.

Dayton Children's Home Care of Dayton was founded to provided skilled nursing services to patients outside the medical center. Children's Home Care (CHC) is the only service in the region totally devoted to pediatrics. Children's nurses cover a 19-county area and are available 24 hours to families. While CHC saves money for families and the medical center, its greatest benefit is serving children where they are most "at home."

Children's Care and Comfort program enables families to care for their critically ill child at home. With funding from the TWIGs and the Little Exchange, the program is able to provide nurses and a family support specialist to help families cope with the medical and emotional issues of caring for children with life-threatening illnesses at home.

Children's Urgent Care - Springboro located at 3333 West Tech Road off State Route 741, provides pediatric care evenings and weekends when many doctors's offices are closed. In addition, the Far Hills location offers lab, x-ray and a variety of rehabilitative services south of Dayton for the convenience of families and physicians. Children's Urgent Care was one of the first pediatric urgent care centers in the country and has been caring for kids for 20 years.

Dayton Children's Testing Centers - Beavercreek and Springboro. Dayton Children's Outpatient Testing Centers are the only testing centers in the region devoted to children, offering medical imaging, EKG and laboratory services for infants, children and teens. A dedicated staff specially trained in caring for the specific needs of children provide quality service with a notable difference. Our staff strives to provide the best possible experience with minimal discomfort. Our centers offer short wait times before each procedure and free, convenient parking. Results are quickly available to your child's physician to ensure appropriate treatment begins as soon as possible.

Pediatric specialists from Dayton Children's are providing laboratory and medical imaging services and specialty services including cardiology, CARE clinic, endocrinology, gastroenterology, genetics counseling, hematology, infectious disease, neurology, nephrology and pulmonary at Dayton Children's Specialty Care Center - Warren County. Ask your child's doctor about a referral.
